I am SUPER new to calligraphy as in having only been practicing one month so I know I have a lot to learn. I took the I Still Love Calligraphy course and Melissa recommended Dr. Martin's Pen White. I have had some pretty significant issues getting this to work for me and flow correctly. I tried adding some drops of water and that didn't seem to help and I also tried adding gum arabic. I am having a hard time figuring out when to add each. When I first got it it came out in big blots, then I added some water and it all fell out of the nib before I could write. But it also seemed to get stuck and not flow out between the tines. How do I know when it is too thick and when it is too thin? How much of each (either water or gum arabic) typically needs to be added? Thanks in advance for any help!
