My name is Stewart J. Thomas. I first learned Persian (Farsi) calligraphy--which uses the Arabic script--as a child growing up in Iran. My very first paid job was a menu in Greek for a Taverna in Athens, Greece. Soon after I obtained the position of calligrapher at the college I attended (Haverford College in Pennsylvania), where all posters for visiting speakers and concerts were done in calligraphy. I have tried at various points in my life to find a "real" job, but I am at last convinced that calligrapher is my profession!
My speciality is World Calligraphy, including Arabic (Persian, Dari, Urdu); Latin/Roman (English, German, French, etc.); Chinese; South Asian scripts (Devanagari, Hindi, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Kannada, Telugu, etc.); Amharic; Hebrew; Greek and various other scripts.
